Next rally will be spring 2010. For more information on the program, visit our Young Eagles page
EAA Chapter 196 is the Central Massachusetts chapter of the EAA. The chapter meets once a month at the Minute Man Air Field (6B6) in Stow, Massachusetts and holds other activities on a regular basis.

Young Eagles: The Young Eagles program offers free airplane rides to children between the ages of 8 and 17. Chapter 196 holds Young Eagle rallies each month usually on the second Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon (weather permitting).

Want to see what a Young Eagles Rally looks like? Here is a photo gallery of our most recent regular monthly rally, held July 11. We have photo galleries and reports for all our other rallies held during 2000 through 2008, all of which can be found on our main Young Eagles page. The full rally schedule for year 2009 is available there too.

Meetings: Club meetings are held on the last Monday of each month year round at 7:00 p.m. somewhere on the airport property, Minute Man Air Field on Boxboro Road in Stow, MA. During the summer months we usually substitute a cookout for the meetings; these cookouts start at 6:00 p.m.

Runway 21 PAPI Dedication: On November 14, 2009 the new PAPI for runway 21 was dedicated by airport manager Don McPherson and a group of local pilots. EAA Chapter 196 made a major contribution to the cost of the PAPI.

40th Anniversary Open House: On July 11, 2009, Minute Man Air Field held a 40th anniversary open house. EAA chapter 196 participated by holding a record setting Young Eagles rally and also by firing up the grills. Here is a photo gallery of the day.

Events Of Interest: A list of local events of interest to chapter members and other pilots is available here. The full list is on the events page, but here are the next few:

  • January 25 -- Monthly meeting at the airport
  • February 22 -- Monthly meeting at the airport

EAA Chapter 196 2009 Myricks Fly-In: Our chapter's annual fly-in to Myricks Airport in Berkley was held Sunday, September 20. We had our usual great weather and served up lots of burgers and hotdogs to the hungry crowds. For a look at the 2009 fly-in, see the photo gallery of the event.

2007 Collings Foundation Living History Weekend: For several years now we've helped the Collings Foundation with their annual June open house. Last year they decided to add a second event, a WWII themed living history weekend. As usual, we manned the grills for both days and it would appear that this weekend brought the biggest crowds ever. For a look, see the photo gallery of the event.
